Exchange Web Services (EWS) is an application program interface (API) that enables programmers to access Microsoft Exchange items such as calendars, contacts and email. EWS first became available in Exchange 2007 but it really became a powerful tool in the 2010 version.
We use EWS to exchange information between your Dynamics NAV ERP system and your Microsoft Exchange email server. This interface between Microsoft’s leading products works either locally or in the cloud.
What all this means is that interactions between you and your contacts via Outlook are stored against the Dynamics NAV customer records.
So an email sent in Outlook can be viewed in the Microsoft Dynamics NAV customer record. Equally calendar appointments and tasks created in Outlook will appear in the Dynamics NAV customer record.
Exchange Online can be part of Office 365 and NAV on the Microsoft Azure cloud platform and you can still enjoy integration between the two systems.
