Microsoft Dynamics NAV history
Microsoft Dynamics NAV was created as Navision Financials by three Danish college students in 1984. In 1995 the Windows version was produced but 5 years later the name became a problem. With all the investment and functionality growth, Navision had become an ERP system and “Financials” implied it was still just an accounting package. So to counteract this, the product was renamed Navision Solutions and then Navision Attain when Navision acquired companies and began to offer more products.
Navision was acquired by Microsoft in 2002 and renamed Microsoft Business Solutions Navision Edition. It became Microsoft Dynamics NAV in 2006. The complete history can be seen on the Microsoft Dynamics User website.
