The “cloud” has many names; online, hosted and SaaS (Software as a Service). They all mean the same thing – your data will be stored somewhere that isn’t a machine in your office and the software is accessed via the internet. This means that it can be accessed from anywhere unlike an on-premises version which can only be accessed from the office.
Microsoft Dynamics NAV is available in the cloud. And the Microsoft cloud is Azure. We recommend Azure for your NAV cloud implementation. However we do also work with alternative cloud solutions. There are a huge number of benefits to having your Microsoft Dynamics NAV in the cloud over and above on-premises. These are just a few:
1. Access from anywhere – home or office or even on the train using the app
2. Flexible – subscription fees are based on monthly number of users. You easily add new users and remove old ones
3. Known monthly cost
4. Lower upfront cost – no initial upfront outlay for servers or maintenance costs
5. Reduced IT staff requirement – your provider is responsible for the ongoing server maintenance, support and back-up of your solution
Simply Dynamics offers three options when hosting in the cloud:
Private dedicated server
Your NAV sits on its own dedicated NAV server meaning neither your NAV application nor your NAV server is shared with anyone else.
Private single tenant
Your Dynamics NAV application runs on a server environment which is common to other organisations. This is completely secure and it is well suited to SME organisations. Think of it like a housing estate designed by the same engineer and architect, although you retain the ability to customise your own house as you need.
This is suited to smaller customers where little customisation is required. Multiple companies share the space where their data is stored. It is like an apartment block where the floor plans are generally pre-set but you retail the ability to make minor cosmetic changes.
We provide these options via Microsoft’s Azure platform. Microsoft Dynamics NAV runs on all options. View the video below to learn more about Azure.
